An elderly man attending JCM Church today sparked waves of laughter during the service.
He was invited to the podium by the presiding bishop, Ben Kiengei, who noticed something unusual.
Bishop Ben pointed out that the man was missing some of his teeth, despite the church having previously sponsored him to get artificial ones.
In a humorous response, the elderly man said some of his teeth had fallen out while he was eating ugali.
He clarified that only the lower jaw dentures were no longer working, while those on the upper jaw were still functional.
His honesty, paired with humor, left the entire congregation in stitches.(Photo courtesy- Bishop Ben and. A congregant laughing after the aged man cracked a joke)
The man also joked about suffering from occasional back pain, which drew even more laughter from the crowd.
After the light moment, Bishop Kiengei shared some good news with him.
He revealed that two female congregants had offered to sponsor the elderly man and another senior church member on a special trip.(Photo courtesy- female congregants who promised to take the elderly man for a tour)
The destination? Nairobi National Park—where the two will spend the upcoming Father’s Day.
The women promised to cater for all expenses, including transport, making it a fully paid experience.
Bishop Ben later handed the man some money and encouraged him to enjoy a good meal after the service.(Photo courtesy- Bishop Ben holding some money, JCM congregant and Elderly man)
He then instructed the church to gift the man three packets of 2kg maize flour so he could enjoy his meal with ugali.
But once again, the elderly man brought laughter with a cheeky question.
“Will I be eating ugali always?” he asked, prompting the church to burst into laughter once more.(Photo courtesy- Bishop Ben and a Congregant laughing uncontrollably after the question)
His remark even made Bishop Kiengei laugh out loud.
The bishop then ordered that the man be given both maize flour and wheat flour from the church store.
He also instructed a congregant named Morpham to provide cooking oil for the elderly man.(Photo courtesy- The Elderly man with Morpham)
Finally, Bishop Kiengei thanked the entire church for the love and support they continue to show the elderly in their community
