Ambassador Ida Odinga was among notable figures spotted at State House, Nairobi, during the official unveiling of Supreme Court Judge Njoki Ndung’u as Kenya’s candidate for the position of Judge at the ICC for the 2027–2036 term.The event, hosted by President William Ruto on Wednesday, brought together senior government officials, members of the judiciary, diplomats, and prominent leaders from different sectors.

Mama Ida Odinga’s presence at the ceremony attracted attention as guests gathered to support Justice Ndung’u’s international judicial bid.

During the event, President Ruto praised Justice Ndung’u for her distinguished legal career and her contributions to governance, human rights, and international law.

The Head Of State described her as one of Kenya’s most accomplished jurists,noting that her experience in Parliament, the Pan-African Parliament, and the judiciary places her in a strong position to serve at the ICC.

The launch ceremony highlighted Kenya’s efforts to strengthen its representation in international institutions and support qualified professionals for global leadership positions.Several speakers at the event also commended Justice Ndung’u for her integrity, professionalism, and commitment to justice throughout her public service career.

Guests at the ceremony were seen engaging in discussions and networking as Kenya officially began its diplomatic push to rally support for the candidacy ahead of the election.

The International Criminal Court, based in The Hague, Netherlands, is responsible for handling cases involving war crimes, genocide, and crimes against humanity.

If successful, Justice Ndung’u would become part of the global judicial team tasked with advancing international justice and accountability.
