Jacquey Nyaminde, better known as Wilbroda, has opened up about a moment that left the late Charles Bukeko, popularly known as Papa Shirandula, a little disappointed.
Speaking during an interview, Wilbroda revealed that Papa was not too pleased when fellow actress Jackie Vike, famously known as Awinja, got pregnant while the Papa Shirandula show was still at its peak.
According to Wilbroda, Papa was like a father figure to the cast and had high hopes for Jackie’s acting career. “He really loved her and wanted her to go far in her craft. When the pregnancy news came, he felt it would slow her down,” she shared.
But Wilbroda made it clear that Papa’s disappointment was not out of anger or rejection. Instead, it came from a place of deep care and concern for Jackie’s future. “He wanted the best for her. He believed she could achieve a lot,” she explained.
Despite the concerns, Jackie managed to balance her personal life with her career. She embraced motherhood and continued working hard, proving that a setback can also be a turning point.
Today, Awinja remains one of Kenya’s most loved actresses, while the lessons and mentorship of Papa Shirandula continue to live on through the stars he nurtured.
