Wife of George Gathu Matheri broke down in tears as she narrated the painful moment, she learned of her husband’s death, following a fatal shooting at a petrol station in Karatina.

The businessman’s killing has sparked outrage, grief, and demands for justice from both his family and the local community.

According to reports, George was allegedly shot dead by a police officer after a heated exchange at the fuel station.

CCTV footage that has since circulated shows the now-detained police constable confronting the businessman before firing several shots at close range.

Witnesses said the situation quickly spiralled out of control, despite one civilian attempting to intervene and calm the confrontation.

Speaking while visibly distraught, George’s wife said she could not comprehend how a disagreement ended in such a brutal manner.

“I am so disappointed about what happened that night. I cannot believe that my husband is no more. I am seeking justice for my husband to prevail,” she said tearfully.

The family claims that the officer shot George four times, leaving him with fatal injuries. After the shooting, boda boda riders and residents rushed to the scene, only to find George lying motionless.

Anger and grief soon engulfed the area, with locals burning a police vehicle and a lorry in protest as they demanded accountability.

The incident has left the Karatina community shaken, with many residents condemning what they termed as excessive use of force by law enforcement officers.

They have called on authorities to ensure justice is served and to restore public confidence in the police.

The police officer involved in the shooting is currently in custody and has already been arraigned in court. Investigators have requested more time to complete their probe into the incident.

As investigations continue, George Matheri’s family remains in mourning, holding on to hope that justice will ultimately be served for their slain loved one.
