Former Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati has sent a wave of laughter across the political landscape after jokingly inquiring how much viral internet sensations Heha Movers would charge to haul belongings from State House, Nairobi, back to President William Ruto’s rural home in Sugoi, Uasin Gishu County.
Addressing a gathering in Western Kenya, the former county chief capitalised on the country’s trending social media meme to take a humorous swipe at the ruling administration ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Pointing out the roughly 320-kilometer distance between Nairobi and Sugoi, Wangamati teased that opposition realignments were gaining so much momentum that the services of Kenya’s most infamous comedy moving crew would soon be required to clear out the executive residence.
“We want to ask Heha Movers to prepare their quotation. How much will it cost to move everything from State House back to Sugoi?” Wangamati quipped to cheering supporters, referring to the fictional Kibera-based comedy troupe whose viral sketches have dominated online banter.
While professional long-distance moving firms typically charge between KSh 80,000 and KSh 200,000 for inter-county relocations, Wangamati’s satirical query underscores how political leaders are increasingly weaponizing pop culture and viral humor to rally grassroots audiences against the government.
