Natembeya arrest

George Natembeya has spoken out after being freed from police custody, expressing shock over what he discovered. He said he did not expect such a strong show of support from the public during his arrest.

The Trans Nzoia Governor said crowds in Kitale went to the streets, demanding his release. He also received many messages of support from people across the country through social media.

Natembeya said his shock came from learning just how many people stood with him. He added that the huge number of supporters gave him strength during the difficult moment.

He thanked those who stood by him and promised to continue serving the people. Natembeya said his work will not stop because of the ongoing case.

He was arrested following claims linked to the misuse of county funds between 2023 and early 2025. The Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission has said the arrest was based on investigations.

The court released him on bail and barred him from accessing his office for two months. He was also ordered not to leave the country without court permission.

Natembeya said he respects the court process and will follow the law as required. He believes the truth will come out and clear his name in due time.

He told Kenyans to avoid political talk that may slow development. The governor said he still has plans for the county and will not be distracted.

Supporters claim his arrest was political, but Natembeya has avoided such remarks. He has instead called for calm and patience as the case continues.

Despite the court restrictions, Natembeya said he is still in charge. He ended his message by promising to keep working for the people who believe in him.
