Trouble might be on the horizon for Meru senator, Mithika Linturi as the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is seeking a court order to exhume the body of Edith Kananu.
Edith worked as a house help for Mr. Linturi and died under mysterious circumstances in the senator’s house in 2018.
This isn’t the only case staring at the politician, with the senator in court at the moment over his alleged involvement in the unresolved murder of his late business associate Dr. Stanley Maroe Mugwika.
In a sworn affidavit, police officer Maurice Mwai, said Linturi is a habitual offender who has an instinct for crime and asked the court to protect and save all ‘victim’s.
“We humbly urge this court to protect and save all victims, widows, orphans, the hopeless, those in fear of Linturi who is bribing his way through the criminal justice.”
The officer decried the fact that despite the politician’s many issues with the law he always seems to get away unscathed.
“That nobody will suffer prejudice if an order for exhumation and postmortem is granted to establish the cause of death of the late Edith Kananu who was murdered through poisoning,” read another part of the affidavit.
The police officer went on to add that the politician was the prime suspect in Kananu’s murder and asked the court to approve the exhumation request.
Mr. Linturi is still involved in another court case with his ex-wife, Marriane Kitany. The two are embroiled in a property dispute for ownership of Atticon Ltd, which was owned by the senator before relinquishing 50 percent shares to Baron Estates Ltd, a company associated with Kitany.
It is alleged that LInturi relinquished his shares in exchange for Baron Estates a guarantee of Sh50 million loan that he intended to borrow at Family Bank.
Kitany has accused the senator of fraudulently kicking out Baron Estate’s ownership of Atticon.
According to court documents, it alleged that Rodha Kitany’s, (Marianne’s mother) signature was forged to secure loans of Sh100 million from Family Bank, another loan of Sh325.7 million, and a separate overdraft facility of Sh100 million using the properties of Baron Estates.
