Insecurity has claimed over 50 lives in Baringo, Elgeyo-Marakwet and Turkana this year.

Rift Valley Regional leaders accuses the government of using poor strategies and lacking commitment to the security mission.

This is after the armed bandits shot dead another child in West Pokot County on Friday morning, a day after killing a Grade Six pupil in protracted attacks despite a national security operation.

The leaders alleges poor remuneration and facilitation, lack of motivation and poor equipment for the cyclic cases of banditry.

The bandits believed to be from Kaben Location in Marakwet East ambushed the pupil of Tirap Primary School near their home at around 6am.

Security experts also argue that posting security personnel to unfamiliar territories is detrimental, as they lack knowledge of the terrain and the people’s ways of life.

The deceased identified as, Master Ruto Ng’orianya was reportedly going for a short call near Cheputel Boys’ High School before being shot dead by the armed attackers.

The bandits were suspected to be on a revenge mission after they were earlier repulsed by KDF and police officers.

West Pokot County Commissioner Apollo Okello also said the bandits seem to be on a retaliatory mission after a raid in Baringo County last week.
