A new controversy has emerged around Mumias East Member of Parliament, Peter Salasya, after an elderly man publicly claimed to be his biological father.

The man alleges that he and Salasya’s mother parted ways when the MP was just three months old, leaving him unaware of his son’s upbringing.

In a viral video making rounds on social media, the man, who bears a strong resemblance to Salasya, narrated that he was once married to Salasya’s mother.

According to him, the separation occurred while Salasya was still a baby, and since then, he has had no contact with his son.

“That is my child. We separated when his mother was three months pregnant. When he was born, he resembled me. Even Salasya should come and look at our faces,” he said, pointing out similarities such as their head shape and overall appearance.

The man added that they once lived in Busia’s Marachi Estate and urged Salasya to acknowledge their connection. His claim has sparked a flurry of reactions online, with many netizens urging for a DNA test to verify the truth.

Social media users expressed mixed feelings about the situation. While some sympathised with the man, others criticised him for resurfacing after so many years.

Comments ranged from calls for peace and privacy to debates on parental responsibility and the timing of such claims.

Magdalene Muthoni Gichamba remarked, “This man should leave Salasya alone,” while others like Musacan Keyani noted, “You can see the resemblance, but DNA tests are necessary.”

The drama sheds light on the complex personal lives often hidden behind public figures and raises questions about family, identity, and responsibility.
