Sossion emphasized that individuals with selfish interests should not be allowed to blackmail President William Ruto under the pretense of representing the region.
Sossion warned against divisive political tactics, stating that they only serve to destabilize the nation.
He dismissed claims that President Ruto has sidelined Mt. Kenya, asserting that such accusations are false and aimed at creating unnecessary political tensions.
According to him, President Ruto remains committed to engaging with all regions, including Mt. Kenya, and will continue visiting the region as part of his leadership mandate.
His remarks come days after the impeachment of Gachagua and the removal of several Mt. Kenya leaders from key positions in the Senate and National Assembly.
Among those affected were lawmakers who were perceived as close allies of the former Deputy President.
Despite the backlash, Sossion maintained that these changes were not an attack on Mt. Kenya but rather a political realignment within the government.
Sossion further stated that those claiming President Ruto has ‘attacked’ Mt. Kenya are wrong and are engaging in a crime by attempting to incite political division.
He urged leaders to focus on national development rather than personal political ambitions.
In conclusion, Sossion called for unity and warned against political blackmail. He emphasized that Kenya’s progress depends on leaders who prioritize national interests over personal gains and that divisive politics should not be allowed to hinder the country’s development.
