Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has claimed that the government already has people within the Democratic Congress Party (DCP) associated with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Cherargei said the political landscape ahead of the 2027 General Election requires leaders to maintain relationships across the political divide, suggesting that some politicians currently aligned with Gachagua could eventually return to the government side.
“We must ensure that we have friends on the other side, and after the elections, they will come home. Some are already in the DCP,” Cherargei said.
His remarks come as Gachagua continues to build the DCP and strengthen his opposition network ahead of the 2027 polls. The former Deputy President has been holding rallies and engaging leaders as he seeks to establish a strong political base.
Cherargei’s comments is expected to spark debate over whether the government has political allies or “moles” operating within Gachagua’s camp.
