Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti penned a lavish eulogy to her late husband, Samuel Mutua Mbida, who passed away in 2016, as she marked what would have been their 32nd wedding anniversary. In a tear-jerking message on her social media platforms, Wavinya reflected on their enduring love, the memories they made together, and the pain of his absence nearly a decade later.

Today would have been our 32nd wedding anniversary. Even though you are no longer here, your love, wisdom, and kindness still guide me every day,” she penned. “You were my best friend, partner, and biggest supporter. I thank God for the years we shared and for the beautiful family we built together.

The late Mbida, who was of Nigerian descent, passed away in September 2016 after a short illness. The couple had been married for over two decades and were blessed with children. Wavinya has often described him as a loving, grounded man who played a key role in shaping her personal and political journey.

Her post elicited emotional reactions from Kenyans on social media, and many offered condolence messages and commended her for keeping her late husband’s memory alive. The governor was commended by well-wishers and friends for her strength and the dignity with which she has continued to lead, both as a mother and as a public official.
