UDA Party MP Edward Muriu has stirred political controversy with bold statements that have sent ripples through Kenya’s political landscape. In a fiery address, Muriu declared that the Kenyan people will decide who to elect in the 2027 general elections, and they have already made up their minds – it will not be leaders responsible for “killing children and raiding pay slips.”

The remarks came as Muriu pointed fingers at current political figures, expressing dissatisfaction with their leadership. He specifically referenced Vice President Rigathi Gachagua, suggesting that his position within the government is contributing to Kenya’s ongoing issues. “MPs were told to kick out Gachagua to resolve our problems,” Muriu stated, implying that the removal of the VP could be a key solution to the challenges facing the country.

Muriu’s words appear to be a direct challenge to Gachagua’s influence within the ruling government, and they reflect the growing discontent among some members of the UDA Party with the current administration. His comments also seem to be a warning to political elites that the Kenyan electorate is watching closely and will hold them accountable for their actions ahead of the 2027 elections.

The harsh criticism of Gachagua has sparked a wave of debate across the nation, with some supporters of the government calling Muriu’s statements irresponsible, while others in the opposition see them as a bold attempt to address the grievances of ordinary Kenyans.

As the political tension builds, the future of Kenya’s leadership in 2027 remains uncertain, with calls for accountability growing louder. Will Muriu’s statements influence the direction of the 2027 race? Only time will tell, but one thing is clear – the fight for the nation’s future is far from over.
