Sulwe FM presenter Diana Makokha has shared an emotional story about raising her first-born son without help from the man she once loved. In a powerful Facebook post, Diana opened up about the challenges she has faced as a single mother, especially when it comes to paying her son’s university fees.
According to Diana, her son is now in third year at the university, and for the past 22 years, she has carried the burden of parenting alone. She recalled a difficult moment last year when her son needed to clear Ksh 80,000 in school fees before the September semester. She only had Ksh 50,000 at the time and reached out to her baby daddy, hoping he would assist with the remaining amount.
The man promised to apply for a loan and send the money directly to their son. However, days passed, then weeks, and he went silent. Despite the assurance, no money came through.
Diana said she was left stranded and disappointed, but by God’s grace, a company that had delayed her payment finally came through with Ksh 70,000. She used that to clear the fees.
Looking back, Diana expressed pride in how far she’s come. Her son recently finished his third year with excellent grades scoring 8 As and Bs out of 12 units. His performance has made her proud and given her the strength to keep pushing.
“I’ve done it alone, and my son is doing well. That’s all the reward I need,” she said in her post.
Her story has touched many online, especially single mothers who relate to the silent sacrifices and strength behind closed doors.
