Multiple sources indicate that a large consignment of rungus has been transported to Nairobi in anticipation of the planned June 25 demonstrations. According to a report by KTN News, a covert operation is allegedly underway, reportedly coordinated by a high-ranking State House official in collaboration with a well-known MP from the Rift Valley region. The aim, sources claim, is to suppress and destabilize the upcoming protests.

It is further alleged that thousands of rungus were produced in Nanyuki at a private facility owned by a local politician. These weapons are said to be intended for hired individuals tasked with attacking peaceful demonstrators.

As the youth gear up for the June 25th protest—marked as a memorial for victims of police brutality during last year’s demonstrations—a source from State House has reportedly shed light on President William Ruto’s position regarding the matter.

According to Tuesday’s People Daily, the president is closely monitoring the situation. The source further noted that the government’s plan for inclusivity might be at risk, especially with a looming cabinet reshuffle that could see ODM-affiliated leaders affected. Should the protests lose momentum, the formation of a broader-based government might be postponed.

It’s worth noting that growing discontent among the youth continues, with many accusing the Ruto administration of neglecting their concerns and mishandling governance matters.
