Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has once again stepped into the spotlight, this time offering help to a comedian entangled in a bitter financial dispute with Wiper Party officials.
The comedian, who had been working with Kalonzo Musyoka’s team, was recently disowned by the party amid allegations of mismanaging Ksh19 million meant for campaign activities.
Reports indicate that the entertainer had been hired to handle publicity and social media engagements during a series of Wiper events.
However, internal disagreements erupted after the funds allegedly went missing, prompting party officials to distance themselves from him.
The fallout has since become a public spectacle, with accusations and counter-accusations flying across social media.
Sonko, known for his flamboyant acts of philanthropy and quick interventions in public disputes, announced that he would mediate the issue to ensure fairness and accountability.
Speaking through his social media pages, Sonko said he was saddened by how the comedian had been treated and vowed to “help him get justice.”
“I don’t like seeing young people’s reputations destroyed without due process,” Sonko said. “If there was a misunderstanding, it should be resolved respectfully and transparently.”
Sources close to the former governor revealed that he has already reached out to both the comedian and senior Wiper officials in a bid to settle the matter out of court.
The controversy has raised broader questions about transparency in campaign financing and the treatment of creatives who collaborate with political parties.
Observers say Sonko’s move could once again boost his image as a people’s champion, especially among youth and entertainers who often feel exploited in political circles.
As discussions continue behind the scenes, many are watching closely to see if Sonko’s intervention will calm the storm or expose deeper cracks within Kalonzo’s political camp.
