Wamunyoro

According to available sources of news, the political landscape in Mt. Kenya has taken another intriguing turn following a high-profile morning meeting at the Wamunyoro residence of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

The Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader has hosted a substantial delegation of Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) from Murang’a County.

This strategic breakfast meeting comes hot on the heels of a public jurisdictional lecture Gachagua delivered to Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata regarding the upcoming Ol Kalou mini-poll.

The meeting at Wamunyoro signifies a calculated move by Gachagua to anchor his influence directly with grassroots leaders.

Just a day prior, the former Deputy President had sharply criticized Governor Kang’ata and the Linda Mwananchi movement, telling them to keep their campaigns off Ol Kalou to prevent structural confusion ahead of the July 16 voting day.

While Kang’ata’s team subsequently rerouted their Sunday caravan to Nyahururu Town to avoid friction, Gachagua has gone a step further by directly engaging the local legislators from Kang’ata’s home turf.

According to updates shared by the DCP leader, the consultations have centered heavily on regional political dynamics and what he termed the ongoing process for the liberation of the country.

The presence of the MCAs at his private residence underscores a complex layer of political survival, where local representatives are eager to keep their options open ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The breakfast dialogue has gone beyond the immediate municipal issues of Murang’a or the localized tensions of the Nyandarua by-election.

Gachagua has explicitly noted that the discussions have focused on mapping out the path toward the formation of Kenya’s sixth administration.

By bypassing executive county leadership and building a direct bridge to the ward representatives, Gachagua is actively demonstrating his regional mobilization capacity.

This continuous consultative approach keeps the Mt. Kenya political space highly fluid, proving that even as localized campaign boundaries are drawn, the national chess board is constantly moving.
