A mother from Silibwet in Bomet County has sadly passed away after going into a coma due to distressing news about her son.
The incident occurred yesterday morning at around 9 a.m. when she learned that her child was among the students arrested for allegedly burning down parts of Litein Boys High School.
According to reports, the woman was informed that her son, along with other students, had been taken into custody at Litein Police Station after the school fire.
The shocking news caused her to collapse, and she was quickly taken to Tenwek Hospital for emergency treatment.
Despite the medical care she received, the mother tragically passed away early this morning at around 5 a.m.
This incident has left the local community in deep sorrow and disbelief.
Many residents described the mother as a loving and hardworking individual who always prioritized her children’s education.
Family and friends have expressed their grief, saying they are heartbroken over her sudden passing.
The fire at Litein Boys High School happened during a time of unrest when students protested against school administration decisions.
Reports indicate that some students used flammable materials to start fires, causing significant damage to school facilities, including dormitories and classrooms.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported among students or staff, but the destruction has raised concerns within the school community.
