Edwin Sifuna

Leaders allied to the United Opposition on Tuesday took their political campaigns to Taita Taveta County as they intensified efforts to consolidate support in the Coastal region ahead of future political contests.

The rally was attended by Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka alongside his allies, including Linda Mwananchi member Danson Mwashako.

However, Kalonzo’s address was briefly interrupted when a section of the crowd broke into loud chants of “Sifuna! Sifuna”, seemingly demanding the presence of Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.

The chants caught Kalonzo’s attention, forcing him to pause his speech and address the issue directly.

In his response, Kalonzo reassured the crowd that Sifuna would soon join the United Opposition, noting that his absence was only temporary.

“Sifuna atakuja bila shaka. Kwa sasa kuna kazi muhimu anataka kusuluhisha kwa ODM,” Kalonzo told the cheering supporters.

This loosely translates to, ” Sifuna will soon join us, there is a pressing issue in ODM that he is dealing with”

Kalonzo further hinted that Sifuna has been hesitant to openly align with the opposition coalition due to ongoing internal wrangles within ODM.

He also claimed that the Nairobi Senator is currently focused on addressing internal party issues and resisting what he described as external influence in the party.
