Senator Cherargei Explodes in Senate Row Over Sifuna

A stormy session unfolded in the Senate on Tuesday when Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei lashed out at Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, accusing him of attempting to hijack the direction of the House.

Visibly agitated, Cherargei rose to his feet, his voice thundering across the chamber as he declared, “Sifuna must be thrown out! You cannot allow the House to be overthrown by Sifuna!” His remarks sent ripples through the chamber, prompting murmurs from both sides of the political divide.

The tension had been building for several minutes as Sifuna, known for his sharp wit and unapologetic criticism of government operations, took a firm stance on an oversight issue involving resource allocation.

Cherargei, a fierce defender of the current administration, took exception to Sifuna’s tone and perceived agenda.

“What we are witnessing is not just dissent. It’s sabotage dressed in legalese,” Cherargei exclaimed, pointing an accusatory finger at his colleague.

Several senators attempted to intervene, calling for decorum, but the verbal exchange between the two leaders only escalated.

Sifuna stood his ground, dismissing Cherargei’s outburst as a “desperate attempt to silence uncomfortable truths.”

Speaker Amason Kingi was eventually forced to step in, calling both senators to order and warning that the chamber would not be reduced to a political battleground.

The incident has sparked sharp debate across the political landscape, with some defending Cherargei’s passion while others condemned what they called an embarrassing display of intolerance.
