President William Ruto and several Cabinet Secretaries have announced a fresh round of government appointments and reappointments, with multiple individuals securing positions on state boards and public institutions for three-year terms.

The changes were outlined in a Gazette notice dated Friday, October 9, 2026, covering institutions in sectors including water, forestry, healthcare, energy, agriculture, finance and land management.

Among the appointments, Ruto reappointed Job Chirchir as the non-executive chairperson of the Water Services Regulatory Board for another three years, effective October 14, 2026.

The President also renewed Titus Korir’s term as non-executive chairperson of the Kenya Forest Service for three years. Korir was initially appointed to the position on October 13, 2023.

In another move, Ruto extended the appointments of Francis Moroto, Habon Farah, Joseph Boit and Rusiana Mitau to the NEPAD Kenya Governing Council for a further three-year period.

Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi made several changes involving public boards. He appointed Kevin Onyango and Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) Deputy Secretary Dennis Miskellah as trustees of the Local Authorities Provident Fund (LAPFUND) for three years.

The two will join the board responsible for overseeing and managing the retirement benefits scheme.

Mbadi also reappointed Olago Aluoch as non-executive chairperson of the National Government Constituencies Development Fund Board and renewed Masitsa Shiyonga’s position as a board member.

In the health sector, Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale appointed Luka Chemwolo to the Kenya Medical Research Institute Council for a three-year term.

Energy and Petroleum CS Opiyo Wandayi reappointed Jane Masai to the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority board of directors for three years, effective October 14, 2026.

Agriculture CS Mutahi Kagwe also renewed John Karuru Mwangi’s appointment to the Board of Directors of the Kenya Animal Genetics Resource Centre for another three years.

Meanwhile, ICT CS William Gitau reappointed John Kieru Wambui as a member of the Council of the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication for a similar term.

Lands Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome appointed Geoffrey Moses as the non-executive chairperson of the Physical Planners Registration Board for three years, effective October 9, 2026.

The latest appointments and reappointments cover a range of public institutions, with some officials retaining leadership positions while others take up new roles. Most of the terms announced are for three years, although the effective dates vary depending on the appointment.
