The Azimio coalition is expected to lead nationwide demonstrations starting from Friday, July 7th. The demonstrations are aimed at opposing the finance act which was passed by the national assembly and is currently before the high court. The Azimio leaders are also expected to launch civil disobedience and tax boycott against the Ruto administration.

This call by the Azimio coalition has received a major boost after former Laikipia Governor, Ndiritu Muriithi, and Jubilee party secretary general, Jeremiah Kioni, stated that Mt Kenya residents will also participate in the Sabasaba demonstrations.

In his message, Muriithi has asked the people of Mt Kenya to turn out in large numbers in their closest towns and begin to demonstrate.

“If you feel that the cost of living has gone up and is affecting you, come out on Friday and go to the nearest town. Start demonstrating from there,” noted the former Governor.

On his part, Jeremiah Kioni stated that the right to protest and picket is enshrined in the constitution asking Mt Kenya residents to turn up in large numbers for the protests.
