President William Ruto has dropped Justin Muturi as the Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Human Capital Development, and Special Programmes, replacing him with Geoffrey Ruku, the MP for Mbeere North.

Muturi, a veteran politician and former Speaker of the National Assembly, had held the position since Ruto’s first Cabinet appointments.

His sudden removal has raised speculation about performance concerns and shifting political dynamics within the Kenya Kwanza government.

While the official reasons remain unclear, insiders suggest Ruto may be prioritizing efficiency and loyalty in his administration.

Ruku’s appointment is seen as a strategic move to strengthen the government’s focus on public service management and human capital development.

As he steps into his new role, he will be tasked with streamlining operations and implementing policies aligned with Ruto’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.

The decision has sparked mixed reactions. Some political analysts view it as a calculated step to consolidate Ruto’s political base, while others see it as a sign of deeper divisions within the ruling coalition.

Attention now turns to how Ruku will navigate his new responsibilities—and whether more changes are on the horizon in Ruto’s administration.
