President William Ruto has made significant changes to his Cabinet, appointing two new Cabinet Secretaries (CSs) and reassigning key ministers to different roles. The announcement was made by Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service Felix Koskei on Wednesday, March 26.

The President nominated Hanna Wendot Cheptumo as the CS for Gender, Culture, The Arts & Heritage, while Geoffrey Kiringa Ruku, the MP for Mbeere, has been chosen for the Ministry of Public Service, Human Capital Development & Special Programs. Their appointments are pending parliamentary approval.

In addition to the new appointments, President Ruto has reassigned several existing Cabinet members to different ministries. Notably: Aden Bare Duale, who previously served as the CS for Environment, has now been moved to the Ministry of Health and Deborah Barasa will take over as CS for Environment, Climate Change & Forestry.

The reshuffle aims to strengthen the government’s ability to implement key policies and drive socio-economic transformation. The President expressed confidence in the newly appointed and reassigned CSs, noting that their expertise and leadership will be valuable in delivering government programs.

The new appointees must undergo parliamentary vetting before officially assuming office. Meanwhile, Kenyans are keenly watching how these changes will impact governance and service delivery.
