President William Ruto and several Cabinet Secretaries have announced a series of board appointments and reappointments across state agencies in the latest changes.

In a gazette notice dated May 29, the President re-appointed Joseph Ogendo as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Kenya Trade Network Agency (KenTrade) Board for a three-year term.

Under the National Treasury, Mbadi appointed George Wambugu Kanuri as a member of the Board of Directors of the Unclaimed Financial Assets Authority for a three-year term.

Additionally, Wandayi appointed Nick Ochola as a member of the Board of the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company Limited for a three-year term.

The Energy CS also re-appointed Mercylinnete Rotich and Janerose Gatwiri as members of the same board for another three-year term.

In the education sector, Ogamba re-appointed Emmanuel Mutisya as Chairperson of the Kenya Advanced Institute of Science and Technology Council.

He also re-appointed Washington O. Yotto, Collins K. Tanui and Meshak Kidenda as members of the council for another three-year term.

The Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development also saw a reappointment, with CS Wahome reinstating Nicholas Tirop Koech as a member of the Board of the National Construction Authority for a three-year term.

From the trade docket, Kinyanjui re-appointed Geoffrey Omenke and Joe N. Muriuki as members of the Board of the Export Processing Zones Authority for another term.

Meanwhile, Water, Sanitation and Irrigation CS Mugaa re-appointed Risper Maccs Berem as a member of the North Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency Board.

All appointments and re-appointments take effect from May 29, as indicated in the respective Gazette Notices.

Separately, Kisumu County Governor Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o revoked the appointment of Lordvick Otieno as Board Member for Maseno-Holo Municipality, with immediate effect upon publication of the notice.

The revocation comes a month after Otieno’s April appearance before the Senate Standing Committee on Devolution and Intergovernmental Relations, where he raised concerns over systemic challenges facing municipal boards, saying their autonomy is undermined as they can pass resolutions but lack the authority and financial capacity to implement them.
