Popular gospel artist Martin wa Janet is among a section of Kikuyu musicians who have been active in politics and have been campaigning for their favourite candidates and camps.

Martin, who also hosts a gospel show on Kameme TV, has already thrown his weight behind Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya Coalition and has been very aggressive in campaigning for Raila Odinga and his running mate Martha Karua.

The talented artist, who professes Akorino faith, on Wednesday took Azimio campaigns to Thika’s Makongeni estate where he rallied residents to turn out in large numbers on August 9 and vote for “Baba na Mama”.

Martin’s endorsement of the Azimio team elicited mixed reactions from his fans and followers on social media.

Some asked him to quit politics and continue serving God through music, others faulted him for not joining Deputy President William Ruto’s side, yet others urged him to continue marshalling support for Raila and Karua.

“This is a sure bet. The dynamic duo comprising Baba and Martha is definitely a win in our souls. These are the leaders who will transform our country and bind our communities to a one bold society. Kenya is a peaceful nation and we want mature leadership with deep consideration for,” Daniel Njenga posted.

“I think it’s now tym for you to kneel down and pray for peace upon this nation rather than showing off in politics. We will decide whom to vote for,” said Diana Kiambi.

“Martin our lost brother came back Christian need you,” said Naomi Mikwa.
