Veteran Kenyan musician David Mathenge, popularly known as Nameless, shared a memorable moment with some of the country’s most respected media and entertainment personalities during an appearance on the JKL Show.
Nameless was featured alongside veteran broadcaster Fred Obachi Machoka, comedian Daniel “Churchill” Ndambuki, journalist Jeff Koinange and other celebrated figures, creating a rare gathering of some of Kenya’s entertainment and media icons.
After the appearance, Nameless shared a photo of the group on Thursday, October 8, humorously referring to them as the “OG Bench.”
The musician joked about finding himself feeling like a Gen Z while surrounded by personalities with decades of experience in the media and entertainment industry. He also playfully pointed out that Churchill was the youngest member of the group.
Nameless used the occasion to celebrate Machoka, who is marking an impressive 50 years in the media industry. He praised the veteran broadcaster for maintaining his relevance and dedication throughout the five decades.
The milestone also prompted Nameless to reflect on his own career. Having spent about 25 years in the music industry, he said Machoka’s long journey reminded him that there was still plenty of room for growth and achievement.
Machoka is set to mark his golden jubilee in the media industry on Saturday, October 10, at Ulinzi Sports Complex in Nairobi.
The celebrations are expected to attract both local and international entertainment stars, including Congolese musician Koffi Olomide and Cameroonian singer Sam Fan Thomas.
For Nameless, Machoka’s career serves as an example of longevity, consistency and the importance of remaining relevant across generations.
