Kalenjin secular artist Sheila Cherotich from Bomet has sparked mixed reactions on social media after sharing a post in which she appeared to suggest that she was considering taking her own life.

The artist popularly known as Sheila Shuttle, shared the message on Facebook saying she had grown tired of being insulted and disliked by people despite not having wronged them.

In the post, she said people should not wait until something happened to her before coming online to offer apologies or say “rest in peace”. She also asked people not to step on her grave after her death.

Sheila said she had been hated for no reason and complained that many people viewed her negatively because of her name and public image. She added that God would eventually answer those who had judged or treated her badly.

She appeared to bid farewell to her followers, saying she would leave so that people could look for the person they wanted instead of her and continue with their followers and likes.

Sheila has been active in the music industry for close to two decades and is known within the Kalenjin secular music scene.

The Bomet-based musician recently held an empowerment programme where she brought together a number of leaders and local residents as she sought support for her music journey.

The programme was part of her efforts to reconnect with her supporters and continue building her career in the industry. Her latest post has sparked mixed reactions as fans became concerned over her personal wellbeing.
