Today, the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition wing made public their plan to launch a signature gathering campaign with the goal of removing President William Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza administration from office.
During the Kamukunji event that took place today, the opposition side dropped the bombshell by revealing a five point resolution that had been agreed by the Azimio wing.
In the list of resolutions that was read by former Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa, the Azimio wing of the party stated that there will be no more bipartisan talks with the Kenya Kwanza wing because of the high punitive taxes that were imposed on Kenyans through the Finance Bill.
The five decisions that were made by the opposition side during the Kamukunji protest are outlined here for your convenience.
- Beginning today, we will launch a campaign of resistance, which will include a refusal to pay taxes and will have as its ultimate goal the removal of Mr. Ruto’s repressive dictatorship.
- Will get together on the seventh of July, which is a SabaSaba day, in order to compel the Kenya Kwanza administration to leave power and return home.
According to Wamalwa, the constitution provides the people with the authority to exercise that authority anytime they get the impression that the government is steering them in the wrong way.
- We will begin collecting signatures to indicate that Deputy President William Ruto and all other leaders who backed the Finance Bill 2023 are withdrawing their support for the legislation.
- We will acknowledge and value the work that members of Kenya’s civil society are doing to end the oppressive reign of the Kenya Kwanza government in Kenya.
Wamalwa stated that they will seek a partnership with the civil society in order to join forces in the fight for the rights of Kenyans. Wamalwa said that they will want to collaborate with the civil society.
- The Azimio wing criticized President William Ruto and his regime for their disrespectful treatment of the media and issued this condemnation.
