Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga played a prominent role in the funeral proceedings of comedian Fred Omondi in Sega, Siaya County. Addressing mourners, Odinga expressed deep sorrow over the loss, emphasizing that he attended the burial as a figure akin to a grandfather.

He reminisced about his past struggles alongside Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, invoking a song that resonated with the crowd, symbolizing resilience and dedication to serving Africans in times of adversity.

“Our people, today we mourn. I stand here feeling the pain deeply. It should have been me, not Fred, departing this world,” Odinga lamented emotionally.

He proceeded to extend heartfelt condolences to Fred Omondi’s grieving family, acknowledging their sorrow. Odinga also acknowledged the recent protests led by Kenya’s youth against the finance bill, promising his support once he’s available.

“I am currently occupied, but I assure you, when the time is right, I will speak out. When the youth declare they are ready, I will stand with them,” he affirmed.

Encouraging perseverance, Odinga urged Kenyans to continue advocating for their rights, assuring them that their efforts would yield a better Kenya soon.
