Dr. William Samoe Ruto, the president of the Republic of Kenya, was declared to be in mourning this afternoon. After the passing of Imam sheikh Mohammad Swalihu, this was added.
As can be seen from his Facebook post, the head of state sent condolence messages to Swalihu’s family and friends in honor of his passing. “We extend our condolences to the Imam Sheikh Muhammad Swalihu’s family, friends, and the Jamia Mosque faithful. May Allah console you through this traumatic moment. In peace, please.” President William Ruto said.
According to reports, Muhammad Swalihu passed away this morning following a protracted battle with cancer. Swalihu went to Jamia Mosque for prayers before he passed away. He was born in 1949 in the Lamu county village of Ndanu. Up to his untimely passing in 1995, he was the Imam. According to reports, he will be buried at Kariokor today. May he rest in peace, his soul.
