In a five-day weather forecast released on Friday, October 8, the Kenya Meteorological Department advised Kenyans across the country to brace themselves for moderate rainfall from Saturday, October 18, through Wednesday, October 8.
According to the advice, certain areas would see sporadic rainfall, especially in the afternoon, and mornings would have sporadic sunny spells.
Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, the Highlands East region, the West Rift Valley, the South Rift Valley, and the south-eastern lowlands that border Tanzania were among the places mentioned.
Rainfall was expected throughout the weekend in counties including Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, and Trans Nzoia.
Residents of the following areas were also urged to prepare for similar weather conditions: Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot.
Along with sporadic sunny spells early in the day, light showers to moderate rainfall were predicted, especially in the afternoons.
It was also anticipated that the Highlands East counties—Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka, and Nairobi—would have moderate rainfall.
Because the rainfall may affect daily routines and travel plans, the Kenya Meteorological Department advised inhabitants in the aforementioned areas to stay vigilant and adjust their plans accordingly.
The warning acted as a reminder to be ready and cautious throughout this wet season, as Nairobi is predicted to have a colder cityscape.
