The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has issued a new weather advisory indicating that several parts of the country will continue to experience heavy rainfall throughout the week.

In its latest seven-day forecast released on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, and covering the period between November 4 and 10, 2025, KMD said rainfall will persist over the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, South-Eastern Lowlands, the Coastal region, and parts of North-Eastern Kenya.

According to the department, morning rains accompanied by afternoon showers and thunderstorms are expected over the Highlands West of the Rift Valley and the Lake Victoria Basin, including Nandi, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, West Pokot, Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Bomet, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, and Narok counties. Most of these areas will also experience evening and night showers during the forecast period.

The Highlands East of the Rift Valley, including Nairobi, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka Nithi counties, will continue to experience cold and cloudy conditions in the mornings, giving way to sunny intervals and occasional afternoon or night showers and thunderstorms.

KMD further noted that parts of the South-Eastern Lowlands—Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta counties—will experience scattered morning, afternoon, and night showers.

The same pattern is expected along the Coastal region covering Tana River, Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale counties, where light to moderate rains may occasionally intensify.

Meanwhile, parts of North-Eastern Kenya may receive light rainfall during the early days of the forecast period before transitioning to dry conditions later in the week.

KMD has urged residents in the affected areas to remain vigilant and take precautions against possible adverse effects of the heavy rainfall, including flooding, reduced visibility, and disruption of transport and outdoor activities.

The department further advised Kenyans to keep warm, carry umbrellas, and stay alert to daily weather updates for safety and preparedness.
