Former Machachari actress Wanjiku Mburu, popularly known as Mama Baha, has spoken out strongly against false reports circulating online claiming that she had passed away.
The actress dismissed the rumours, clarifying that she is alive and well. Her statement comes just days after she announced the painful death of her sister, Gracie Mburu, who played Mama Bob in the popular TV show Machachari.
Wanjiku expressed deep disappointment over the spread of misinformation, saying it worsened her family’s grief at an already devastating time. Through a formal cease and desist letter, she demanded that those behind the post immediately delete it and issue a public apology.
“This statement is entirely false and fabricated. Your publication has caused distress, emotional trauma, and reputational harm to me, my family, and my friends,” part of her statement read.
The actress ordered the culprits to remove all related images, comments, and shares, and provide proof of deletion. She also demanded that a written apology be posted on the same Facebook page and remain pinned for at least two days, clearly stating that the earlier report was false.
Many Kenyans rallied behind Mama Baha, condemning those spreading fake news and urging her to take legal action. “Please sue them. This will serve as a lesson to those who post unverified stories,” one fan commented.
Mama Baha’s co-star, Tyler Mbaya, popularly known as Baha, also shared an emotional tribute to their late mother, actress Beth Nyambura Mbaya, who died over a decade ago.
The incident has once again highlighted the growing concern over fake news and its emotional toll on public figures and their families. Mama Baha has vowed to take firm action to protect her reputation and ensure accountability from those spreading falsehoods.
