Popular BBC Sports journalist Kelvin Kimathi has announced his exit from the station after two years.
The talented Swahili media personality infact announced the news in a post that he made on his Instagram account on Friday, the 12th of September, where he revealed that the day was actually his last as a staff of the giant media house.
In the long post, Kelvin Kimathi was grateful for the opportunity that he was given to work as a sports journalist at BBC, because it enabled him to grow so much with regards to his career.
“Today is my last day with BBC Sport Africa team. It has been an incredibly rewarding ride as a sports broadcaster for the last decade. The last two years as a Senior Journalist/Digital Producer with the BBC have been even more rewarding and way too fast. Think professional growth on steroids (the legal kind 😅) and personal growth that kept me on toes…” he said in part.
In the post, Kelvin Kimathi also appreciated the memories that he created in that stint, and further revealed that he has now joined Global News, which is a Canadian media house.
“Now I am stepping into a new chapter in Global News. A chance to keep learning, growing, and probably explaining to my sports friends why I am no longer filing post-match reports at midnight…” he said in part.
Scrolling through the Instagram account of Kelvin Kimathi, you will realize that he officially joined the BBC in October 2023, as part of the sports journalists.
Before that however, the hunk had worked at K24 TV sports team for three years. He however left the station in September 2023.
It should be noted also that Kelvin Kimathi had previously worked at KTN and at the defunct station Switch TV before he joined K24 TV.
