A family in Nairobi is demanding justice after their 21‑year‑old daughter, Lucy Waceke Wanjiku, was allegedly attacked and set on fire in an incident involving a police officer.

Relatives claim that officer Thomas Angogo doused Lucy with petrol before igniting it, leaving her hospitalized with severe burns. The motive behind the attack remains unclear.

They allege that Angogo was quietly transferred to a police station in Embakasi soon after the incident.

Neighbors and friends have joined the family in condemning the attack, describing Lucy as a hardworking and cheerful young woman whose life has been cruelly disrupted. The community has rallied around her loved ones, offering support as they await justice.

Police are yet to issue a detailed statement, though sources indicate investigations are underway.

The family has appealed to the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) and other relevant agencies to intervene, stressing that justice must be served.
