Pauline Njoroge has dropped a hard-hitting message that is already sparking debate online, after Israel’s new ambassador to Kenya used Mazingira Day to rally Kenyans on issues of environment and food security.

Njoroge reminded the country that while Israel was born in the desert, it is now a global leader in agriculture and water management, yet Kenya continues to beg for food aid despite having fertile land.

In a viral video shared on Facebook, Njoroge pointed Kenyans to Israel’s example, saying the country has built its strength on drip irrigation, water recycling, and disciplined land use, while Kenya has failed to take advantage of its natural blessings.

She used this moment to challenge leaders and citizens alike to reflect on how a nation with less rainfall than Turkana exports food to the world, while Kenya remains stuck in cycles of drought and relief food. Watch the full video here.

Her statement comes at a time when debates on climate change, food insecurity, and land degradation are dominating political conversations.

With the country celebrating Mazingira Day, Njoroge’s warning was a wake-up call, urging Kenyans to turn the day into more than just planting a tree for the cameras. She argued that Kenya’s future survival depends on adopting climate-smart farming and long-term planning instead of relying on emergency interventions.

Njoroge’s sentiments have quickly drawn attention because they touch on a deeper truth: Kenya spends billions importing food while ignoring local innovations that could feed millions.
