Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos commended Maseno School for its impeccable record, highlighting that the prestigious institution has never experienced a student strike in its 120 years of existence. The declaration comes amid growing concerns over unrest and strikes in several other schools across the country.

Speaking during a school inspection and meeting with teachers and students, CS Migos lauded the school’s administration, students, and alumni for fostering a culture of discipline and responsibility. “Maseno School stands as a beacon of academic excellence and discipline. Its 120-year history without a single student strike speaks volumes about the institution’s commitment to shaping future leaders,” said CS Migos.

Maseno School, founded in the early 20th century, has consistently maintained high academic standards, producing some of Kenya’s notable leaders in politics, business, and civil service. The school’s leadership attributes this success to a combination of strong student guidance, active mentorship programs, and a robust system of accountability that encourages students to express concerns constructively rather than resorting to disruptive actions.

CS Migos urged other schools to adopt similar measures to ensure peaceful learning environments. “We encourage all institutions to create platforms where students can voice their challenges, enabling dialogue instead of strikes. Maseno School provides a model that others can emulate,” he said.

The Education CS also emphasized the role of parents and the community in reinforcing discipline and supporting the schools’ efforts to nurture responsible youth. He noted that collaboration between educators, families, and stakeholders is essential in maintaining harmony and ensuring uninterrupted learning.

Students at Maseno expressed pride in their school’s unique legacy. Many attributed the record to the school’s strong value system, guidance programs, and the mentorship of teachers who inspire responsibility and leadership qualities among learners.

With 120 years of unbroken service and no record of student strikes, Maseno School continues to set a benchmark for other learning institutions across Kenya, demonstrating that discipline and academic excellence can coexist with a nurturing and inclusive environment.
