Police in Masinga, Machakos County, have launched a murder investigation after the decomposing body of a 34-year-old woman was found inside a water tank at a retired teacher’s home.

The discovery came after neighbors noticed a foul odor emanating from the compound, prompting a search that led to the decomposing body.

Local residents immediately alerted law enforcement, who arrived at the scene and confirmed that the lady had suffered visible injuries, indicating she had been murdered.

According to local assistant chief Onesmus Maingi, the woman identified as Pauline, had been in a romantic relationship with the 65-year-old retired teacher who owned the home. Her family had reported her missing a week earlier and had filed a police report before her body was found.

Investigators processed the scene and moved the body to the mortuary for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

The motive behind the killing remains unclear, but police are treating the case as a homicide and are working to uncover the events that led to woman’s tragic end.
