Human rights activist Hussein Khalid has shared a deeply painful story about the tragic death of 23-year-old Kevin Njau.
Kevin was shot in the head on Tuesday evening as he was returning home from work in the Kikuyu area.
His sudden and violent death has left his young family in deep sorrow and shock.
According to Hussein Khalid, Kevin was not part of any demonstration or chaos. He was simply heading home after a long day at work when he was caught in the violence.
His only wish was to reach home safely and be with his wife and children. Sadly, he never made it.
Kevin leaves behind a young wife and two small children. One child is just 2 years old, and the other is only 2 months old.
Their future has now been changed forever by a bullet that ended their father’s life too soon.
The pain of losing Kevin was too much for his wife to handle. When she went to the City Mortuary and saw her husband’s lifeless body lying there, she collapsed.
Those who witnessed the moment say it was heartbreaking. Her cries filled the room as friends and family tried to support her.
Hussein Khalid said that Kevin’s death is a painful example of how innocent lives are being lost in the name of security operations.
He demanded answers from the police and the government, urging them to take responsibility and deliver justice.
He added that Kenyans should not be afraid to go to work or return home to their families. “We must protect life at all costs,” he said.
