Pastor David Edward Owuor’s inner circle has moved swiftly to dismiss claims that the controversial cleric secretly travelled abroad for knee surgery, terming the reports false, misleading and driven by malice rather than verified facts.
Speaking on behalf of the Ministry of Repentance and Holiness, a close follower who is also a practicing lawyer accused Kenyans on social media of deliberately spreading what he described as a fabricated narrative.
According to the insider, the allegations began circulating while Pastor Owuor was actively engaged in an international ministry assignment, a fact he says clearly contradicts claims of a medical trip abroad.
“The interesting part of this lie is that when it emerged, there was a live service going on in Paris, France,” the follower said, insisting the pastor was ministering publicly, not receiving treatment.
He further cited the church’s official missions calendar, noting that it listed 18 global missions during the period in question, none of which included travel to Israel or the United States as alleged online.
The lawyer argued that the detailed calendar, which is shared with followers worldwide, makes it impossible for the purported medical trip to have taken place unnoticed.
Claims about Pastor Owuor’s health have frequently surfaced online, often sparking heated debate among supporters and critics, particularly given his prominence and influence within Kenya’s religious landscape.
In recent weeks, photos and posts alleging the preacher was recovering from surgery abroad gained traction, fueling speculation and renewed scrutiny of his movements.
However, the insider dismissed the images as recycled or deliberately misrepresented, urging Kenyans to verify information before sharing content that could mislead the public.
He warned that persistent misinformation not only damages reputations but also undermines genuine public discourse, especially when directed at religious leaders with massive followings.
The follower maintained that Pastor Owuor remains in good health and continues to discharge his pastoral duties without interruption, both locally and internationally.
As debate rages online, the ministry has called for restraint, encouraging followers and critics alike to rely on official communication rather than unverified claims circulating on social media platforms.
