Netizens on social media have expressed massive outrage after photos emerged of a woman church councillor with dreadlocks and a silver tooth during a service attended by President William Ruto.

The incident happened on Sunday, December 14, at the African Independent Pentecostal Church of Africa (AIPCA) Igegania in Karure, Gatundu North Diocese, Kiambu County.

President Ruto joined leaders and worshippers for a church service and fundraiser.

The woman, described as a local church councillor, was seen seated near the front. Her hairstyle dreadlocks and visible silver tooth decoration sparked strong reactions online.

Many called it inappropriate for a conservative church setting like AIPCA, which is known for traditional values.

“This is not how a church leader should look in God’s house,” one user commented.

Others said dreadlocks and grills are linked to “worldly” or secular culture, not fitting for church elders.

Some accused it of disrespecting the holy place, especially with the President present.

The photos went viral quickly, with screenshots shared widely. Critics said it shows declining moral standards in churches.

During the service, focus was on politics and development.

Ruto donated KSh 57 million for church projects like a college and bus.

Leaders praised him and promised Mt Kenya support in 2027.

There were also some political tensions, but the woman’s appearance stole the online spotlight.
