The race for the Ol Kalou Constituency parliamentary seat has entered its final phase after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission announced that all political campaigns will officially end at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, 13 July 2026.

With the campaign period coming to a close, candidates, political parties and their supporters are now required to observe the mandatory 48-hour campaign silence period ahead of polling day.

During this period, no political rallies, public meetings or campaign activities will be permitted, allowing voters time to reflect on their choices before heading to the ballot.

The highly anticipated by-election is scheduled for Thursday, 16 July 2026, when registered voters across Ol Kalou Constituency will elect their next Member of Parliament.

The IEBC has reminded all eligible voters to carry either their original National Identity Card or a valid Kenyan passport when reporting to vote.

The commission also emphasized that voters must cast their ballots only at the polling stations where they are officially registered.

Election officials have urged residents to arrive at their polling stations early to avoid delays and ensure a smooth voting process.

Voters are also encouraged to cooperate with polling officials and follow all instructions issued at voting centers throughout the day.

The commission has reiterated its commitment to conducting a free, fair and credible election, assuring the public that all necessary preparations are underway to facilitate a transparent electoral process.

As anticipation builds, election stakeholders have appealed to residents, political leaders, and supporters to maintain peace before, during and after the election.

They stressed that respect for the rule of law and democratic principles is essential in ensuring the credibility of the electoral exercise.

Security agencies are also expected to remain on high alert to guarantee the safety of voters, election officials and polling materials throughout the voting period.

The Ol Kalou by-election has attracted significant political attention, making it one of the most closely watched electoral contests in the country.

Political observers believe the outcome could influence the region’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 General Election.

With campaigns now coming to an end, attention shifts from political rallies to the ballot box.

Residents are being encouraged to exercise their constitutional right by turning out in large numbers, voting peacefully and respecting the outcome of the election.

The IEBC has expressed confidence that with the cooperation of voters, candidates and all stakeholders, the Ol Kalou by-election will be conducted in a peaceful, orderly and transparent manner, strengthening Kenya’s democratic process.
