Media personality Oga Obinna has revealed why he intentionally refrains from investing fully in new relationships, citing past romantic failures as the primary reason for his guarded approach.
Speaking on his podcast on Monday, August 25, 2026, Obinna explained that despite his willingness to date, he makes it clear to partners from the start that he will not offer a total emotional commitment:
“They always say that experience is the best teacher. So now when you get any other person, you know better… So I always tell women I will be with you, but I will not give you 100 percent and they take offence.”
Managing Expectations and Partner Pushback
Obinna acknowledged that women often react negatively to his full-disclosure policy, feeling unfair judgment based on his past partners’ actions.
While he understands their frustration when partners argue that they should not be held accountable for previous relationships, Obinna maintained that his personal history dictates his current boundaries:
“That statement you have said is usually not taken lightly by women because many times I find myself in the same situation based on my experience with women… Then wanakuambia but huyo hakuwa mimi then you tell them hata kama haikua wewe but…”
Self-Protection Through Prior Experience
Reflecting on his dating history, the content creator emphasized that his decision to hold back serves as a defense mechanism after repeatedly giving his all in previous relationships without success:
“So why am I not giving you 100 per cent is because I have given 100 per cent many times and it has backfired.”
Despite the friction it creates with potential partners, Obinna maintains that setting clear emotional boundaries upfront remains his preferred method for navigating romance while protecting himself from future heartbreak.
