Oburu Oginga has dismissed overtures from the opposition camp led by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, expressing deep mistrust over their sudden change of tone.
Speaking on May 16, Oburu recalled how leaders like Gachagua rejected Raila Odinga in 2022, even after being urged to support him for a united country with fair power sharing.
He questioned why the same leaders, who once scorned Raila’s candidacy and rallied behind Ruto, are now inviting them to join forces and promising support in 2027.
Oburu warned against blindly trusting such promises, asking, “What is the assurance that they will give Raila votes in 2027?” Oburu has expressed doubts over the sincerity of Gachagua’s camp and suggest that past betrayals still shape the coalition’s view on potential political alignments.
