Nine full years have passed since beloved Kikuyu comedian Geoffrey Mwangi Waweru, popular as Kianangi, vanished without a trace. His family continues to endure painful uncertainty over his fate.
On September 21, 2017, the 40-year-old actor borrowed a friend’s car in Kasarani, Nairobi, planning to collect his sick mother for a hospital visit. Hours later, police found the car parked intact near the Membley Estate roundabout along the Ruiru Bypass, but Kianangi was gone.
“Go and report that crime doesn’t pay,” a senior police source claimed anonymously after the incident, alleging Kianangi led a double life in car theft rings. However, his grief-stricken family and colleagues strongly denied the claims, maintaining he was simply a dedicated entertainer trying to uplift his household.
To this day, Kianangi’s whereabouts remain unknown. His wife, Catherine Njeri, along with close friends, still pleads with authorities for a clear answer to bring them final relief and justice.
