The Kenyan entertainment industry is reeling from the sudden and tragic death of popular DJ and hype man Astroid Hypekid, whose passing has left fans, colleagues, and family searching for answers.
Astroid, born Vincent Nyaga, reportedly died just two days after Christmas in circumstances that remain unclear. His death has sent shockwaves through the nightlife and entertainment scene, where he was widely known for his energy, charisma, and growing influence as a hype man.
According to reports circulating online, the events leading to his death began at Klub Q West in Kahawa West, where he was allegedly involved in a heated altercation shortly before collapsing. Fellow entertainer DJ Devonte claimed that the confrontation involved a staff member at the club, adding that Astroid’s partner worked at the establishment.
Devonte further alleged that during the dispute, Astroid was pushed into a glass window, causing serious injuries. He was later rushed to Kenyatta University Teaching and Referral Hospital for emergency treatment. Sadly, doctors later confirmed that he had been declared brain-dead.
Public concern has intensified following claims that statements issued by the nightclub’s management do not align with accounts shared by some eyewitnesses. These inconsistencies have sparked widespread calls for an independent, transparent investigation to establish what truly happened that night.
More than a week after Astroid’s death, no arrests have been reported, a development that has raised questions about accountability and the pace of investigations.
Astroid’s family has now broken their silence, demanding clear and honest answers. They want to know what sparked the altercation, who was directly involved, and why justice appears to be slow.
As burial preparations continue, the entertainment fraternity and the public remain united in mourning a promising talent, while calling for truth, justice, and responsibility in the wake of a heartbreaking loss.
