Residents of Nyerere village in Murang’a County are seeking answers after a young couple was found dead only a few hours after beginning their life together.

Patrick Mwangi, 28, and his wife, Jackline Wambui, 25, reportedly moved into their new home on August 9, 2026, in what has been described as a ‘come-we-stay’ arrangement.

According to reports emerging on Saturday, August 15, the couple started their new chapter at around 4pm. They later went out for dinner before returning to their home.

However, what was expected to be the beginning of their life together soon turned into a tragedy.

The couple was reportedly found dead inside their house at around 7pm, only about three hours after moving in together. The sudden deaths have left relatives, friends and residents of the village struggling to understand what could have happened.

The circumstances surrounding their deaths remain unclear, with investigations expected to establish what happened between the time they left for dinner and when they were discovered.

The incident has attracted attention across Murang’a as residents await more information from the authorities. At this stage, it would be premature to speculate on the cause of death until investigations and postmortem examinations provide answers.

The deaths have also sparked concern among residents, given the extremely short period between the couple moving into their home and their deaths.

As of Saturday, August 15, the matter remains under investigation, with authorities expected to piece together the couple’s final hours and establish how the tragedy unfolded.

The incident comes amid growing public attention on unexplained deaths and other security-related cases reported across Kenya in recent days.
