President William Ruto and several Cabinet Secretaries have made a series of new appointments aimed at strengthening the operations of key government institutions.
In a gazette notice released on Thursday, Ruto named Charles Mahinda as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Competition Authority for a three-year term beginning December 11, 2025.
Mahinda previously served as a senior technical advisor at the Ministry of Agriculture. The appointment replaces that of Shaka Kariuki, whose tenure was revoked.
The president also appointed Loice Jepkemboi Kipkorir to the Nairobi Rivers Commission for a three-year term starting December 11, 2025.
Kipkorir is an environmental consultant and climate change specialist and chairs NEMA’s Environmental Management, Conservation and Technical Committee.

Across various ministries, additional appointments were announced. Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya appointed Colonel Richard Mbuva to the Kenya Defence Forces Pension Appeals Committee for a three-year term, effective December 11, 2025.
Water CS Eric Mugaa named Lorna Timanoi Nkowua as a member of the Central Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency, replacing Letulala ole Masikonde. She will serve a three-year term.
Education CS Julius Ogamba appointed James Mugambi Kimathi as Chairperson of the Mitunguu National Polytechnic Council for a three-year period.
Ogamba also named Benjamin Okumu Okullu, Susan Mwebia, Stephen Rukaria, Edward Omoti, and Joan Gituma as council members for the same duration.

At the same time, Lands CS Alice Wahome established an ad hoc committee to oversee the delineation of boundaries for the proposed Municipality of Siakago in Embu County, chaired by Irene Kyatu of the IEBC.
In Turkana County, Wahome appointed another committee to delineate the boundaries of Lodwar and Kakuma Municipalities. The committee will be chaired by Mathew Thiga of the IEBC, with Solomon Ambwere serving as Secretary.
Additionally, Wahome formed a committee to define the boundaries of Bute, Habaswein, Hadado, Eldas, Tarbaj, Khorof Harar, and Griftu Urban Areas in Wajir County.
The appointments are part of ongoing efforts to streamline governance structures and enhance service delivery across national and county institutions.
