Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has broken his silence after reports circulated online claiming that he had been arrested, dismissing the claims as false and misleading.

In a brief statement shared on Wednesday, March 12, Nyoro clarified that a video being widely shared on social media suggesting he had been detained was actually recorded several years ago and does not reflect the current situation. The former Kiharu MP reassured Kenyans that he is safe and continuing with his normal duties.

“We have no idea of the motive of the inaccurate circulating information. The video is from 2019. I’m fine and well. Thank you everyone for your concern,” Nyoro stated.

The clarification came after a wave of speculation spread across different platforms, with some users claiming the outspoken politician had been arrested over his recent criticism of government policies. Nyoro has recently been vocal about issues affecting Kenyans, including the rising cost of living and the controversial fuel levy that has sparked debate in Parliament and across the country.

His comments have placed him at the center of political conversations in recent days, with some observers noting growing tensions within the ruling Kenya Kwanza coalition over economic policies and governance matters.

Following Nyoro’s statement, many of his supporters took to social media to express relief, saying the rumors had caused unnecessary panic among residents of Murang’a and his political allies.

Political analysts say the incident highlights how quickly misinformation can spread online, especially during periods of heightened political debate in the country. They urged Kenyans to verify information before sharing it to avoid unnecessary confusion.

Nyoro remains an influential voice in national politics and continues to engage in public discussions on policy matters affecting Kenyans.

As of Thursday, there has been no official report from police or government authorities indicating that the politician has been arrested. His office also confirmed that he is continuing with his normal engagements.
